FASHION via KATIE RODGERS!

Hi! It's Shen and welcome to my Corner! Okay so this post is for any fashionistas out there! I, myself, have been thinking of going clothes shopping specifically for fall/winter clothes since temperature seems to have suddenly plummeted in the last week or so!  Anyway, today I really want to share with you guys one of my favorite artists!  Her name is Katie Rodgers and she works in the fashion industry.  She currently lives in New York City and she runs a website called Paper Fashion (of course I will be providing the link!) which she started in 2009.  Her work has lead her to be commissioned by top companies including Cartier, Kate Spade, Swarovski, Coach, Lacoste, and Jaeger-LeCoultre.  Quite a resume!

Here are some of her fashion sketches:

Rogers, after finishing the initial sketch will adds embellishments like beading, sequence, or gold leaf.  

She actually bought the chocolate bars that at the time were blank and then painted on the designs herself! (Acrylic)

The creative process

 A simple sketch and yet the simplicity of the line emphasizes the gentle movement of the dancer 

This painting also uses the simplicity of the lines so efficiently.  Additionally, I really loved this sketch because of the way it was drawn.  Rodgers used a sharp quill like writing instrument to take the excess paint that hadn't dried yet to then guide that paint into the opposing colors to create line and therefore a picture.  (There was a video on instagram showing this process.  I am not sure if it is on her website but if you want to check out the video her instagram is paperfashion)

Finally, this is just a bonus because I really liked it!  She made a snowdancer (which is a popular character of hers) out of shells she found on the beach!
